Spring 2022 Window Trends

Even though we at Blind & Shutter Gallery enjoy warm weather practically all year, spring is still a great time to freshen up the home, including the window treatments. This season of renewal calls for brighter colors, lighter fabrics, and the swapping out of decorative accents. We have a few easy tips for you to use to give your home’s window coverings a springtime facelift.

Brighter Curtains and Drapes

One of the simplest ways to liven up your living space is with brightly colored drapes and curtains. Think shades of emerald green, rosy pinks, and vibrant purples. You can also use contrasting shades to spice things up. Items with undertones of red, green, and brown pair quite well with neutral tones like beige and pale pink. You can coordinate your curtains with a room’s seat cushions and area rugs to create a more lively, cohesive space. With Hunter Douglas Design Studio™ Drapery & Side Panels, you have hundreds of fabrics from which to choose, including unique collections from artists such as NY designer Rebecca Atwood and more. You’re sure to find the match of your dreams.

Invest in New Hardware

Spring is the season of inspired style, so take advantage of the opportunity to spruce up the hardware of your drapes or curtains. You’ll be surprised at what a difference a new curtain rod, curtain hooks, or other hardware components can make on the look of an entire room. You should keep in mind, however, that if your fabric is very busy and ornate, very decorative hardware can lead to a cluttered look. Exquisitely designed hardware components look fabulous when paired with plain fabrics. And be careful when matching differing colors of hardware-sometimes “matchy-matchy” is best and keeps a room looking cohesive.

Let the Sunshine In

Roller and solar shades are the perfect partner for spring. Both Designer Banded Shades and Designer Screen Shades gently diffuse incoming light, resulting in a romantic glow. Designer Banded Shades combine opaque strips with sheer strips to allow for maximum view-through while closing tightly for absolute privacy. Customize the appearance of your windows by layering other window treatments with your shades. Curtains and shutters are two fantastic options for enhancing a room’s light control and overall aesthetic.

Forego the Fabric

Another excellent option is to do away with fabric entirely, and enjoy the views provided by faux wood blinds. Simply rotate the slats for variable light control while maintaining a comfortable level of privacy. When privacy is not a concern, you can fully raise your blinds for an unobstructed view of nature's beauty. Every new season brings new trends to try. Not every new style will be up your alley, but we’ll be here to share the latest window treatment ideas with you each season.
